The labrum is the extension of the ligamentous system that surrounds the lining of the shoulder socket (glenoid). It is a structure that naturally deteriorates with the aging process. It can however become symptomatic on occasion when acute tears occur due to trauma, overuse, or degeneration. When tears do become symptomatic treatment might include rehabilitation, or surgical intervention.
